I grew up in Lewiston, Maine, and spent my summers at county fairs, where my parents raced horses. After graduating high school, I studied English at Mount Holyoke College. Following graduation, I flew to Mongolia as a Peace Corps volunteer. While in Mongolia, I sewed traditional clothing, learned to speak fluent Mongolian, and taught English to school children. When I returned to the Boston area, I studied rehabilitation counseling. Now, I have the best job in the world: teaching fourth-graders.
